PRIORITIES

Defending Our Democracy
Every American deserves a voice in our democracy, but Republican leaders are working to silence voters and rig the system for themselves. Texas politicians have tried to strip away voting rights, take over local elections, and overturn legitimate results—undermining the foundation of free and fair elections. In Congress, Christian will fight to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act to protect every voter. He’ll push for automatic and same-day registration, tougher campaign finance laws, and an end to gerrymandering that locks communities out of power. Democracy only works if it works for everyone, and Christian will fight to make sure every vote counts.
Fighting for Fairness: Lower Costs, Better Jobs, Stronger Communities
Making Healthcare Affordable
Healthcare is not a privilege—it’s a right. When his older brother received world-class cancer treatment at MD Anderson, Christian saw firsthand the power of high-quality care, but too many families struggle to afford even the basics. In Congress, he will fight to expand Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing, strengthen Medicaid, and lower prescription drug prices so no one must choose between medication and basic necessities. He will address the maternal mortality crisis affecting Black women and stand against Trump and his allies who want to cut healthcare funding. Every family deserves affordable, high-quality care.
Investing in Education
Every child deserves a quality education, but politicians are underfunding public schools and making it harder for students to succeed. Teachers are underpaid, school buildings are outdated, and college costs are on the rise—pushing too many young people into lifelong debt. No longer will we allow the future of our children and teachers to be a political expenditure. In Congress, Christian will fight to fully fund public schools, raise teacher pay, and expand Pell Grants so students can afford college and vocational training. He’ll champion universal pre-K, invest in Title I schools, and oppose Trump’s efforts to gut the Department of Education. From early childhood to higher education, Christian will make sure every student has a fair shot at success.
Fighting for Clean Air & Water
No one should worry that their air or water is making them sick, but too many Black and Brown communities are polluted for profit. Industrial plants and landfills poison neighborhoods while corporations profit and politicians look away. In Congress, Christian will fight for stronger environmental protections, hold polluters accountable, and push for more federal cleanup funding. He’ll work to stop Trump’s efforts to weaken the EPA and defend progress made through the Inflation Reduction Act. Everyone deserves a safe, healthy place to live—no matter their zip code.
Protecting Abortion Rights & Reproductive Healthcare
Texas politicians have stripped away women’s rights, making it harder to access reproductive healthcare. The right to abortion, birth control, and fertility treatments shouldn’t depend on where you live—it should be protected under federal law. In Congress, Christian will fight to restore abortion rights, defend contraception and IVF, and block a national abortion ban. As Harris County Attorney, he took on MAGA Republicans who tried to restrict abortion access, and he’ll bring that same fight to Washington. With Trump and his allies attacking reproductive rights, Christian will stand with Texas women to protect their healthcare decisions.
Criminal Justice Reform
The criminal justice system is failing too many families—over-incarcerating communities of color while doing little to make people safer. Too many are locked up for nonviolent offenses, which costs taxpayers billions every year. These people struggle to rebuild their lives and are denied opportunities by a broken system. Real public safety means investing in mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and protections for survivors of domestic violence—not just tougher sentences. In Congress, Christian will fight to end for-profit prisons and expand job training and reentry programs. The system should be about justice, not punishment—and Christian will fight to make it fair for everyone.
Texas’s 18th Congressional District is the heart of Houston,
home to a diverse and hardworking community that has shaped the city’s history and progress. The district includes historic Black neighborhoods, vibrant Latino communities, and some of Houston’s most important economic and cultural hubs. In Congress, the representative for the 18th District has historically fought for policies that uplift working families—protecting voting rights, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening public schools, and ensuring access to quality healthcare. This seat has long been a voice for justice, progress, and the fight for a fair shot at the American Dream—and that fight continues today.
